International Conference on Educational Technology 2004
Greetings to you and I am indeed looking forward to you joining us for the International Conference on Educational Technology 2004! We have a stimulating program planned around this year's theme, Evolving Technologies in Education: Enhancing Learning & Teaching. The theme highlights the importance of teaching and learning issues when considering the use of technologies in education. Three sub-themes help us focus our collective consideration of this set of pertinent issues:
International Best Practices of Educational Technology
Research, Development and Theory in Educational Technology
The Role of Educational Technology in Changing Worlds

Online Journal - IJHCS 'Web Usability' Special Issue
IJHCS 'Web Usability' Special Issue
This special issue arises out of a symposium entitled "The Missing Link: Hypermedia Usability Research & The Web," held at The Open University's Knowledge Media Institute in May, 1996 (Buckingham Shum, 1996). As the title suggests, we felt there was something missing between the vast amount of hypermedia and related human-computer interaction (HCI) research that has been conducted, and the most popular hypermedia system in existence-the World Wide Web. Certainly the Web community by and large seemed to be ignoring the hypermedia research literature and, as Santayana (1905) notes, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." However, it was possible that our view was inaccurate or even that the Web was sufficiently different to its predecessors to make earlier findings irrelevant. The symposium set out to explore such issues.

Conference - Cognition and Exploratory Learning in Digital Age (CELDA 2004)
The IADIS CELDA 2004 conference aims to address the main issues concerning with the evolving learning processes and supporting pedagogies and applications in digital age. There have been huge advancements in both cognitive psychology and computing that have affected the educational arena. The convergence of these two disciplines has never been faster before and this marriage has affected the very basis of the academia. Paradigms such as just-in-time learning, constructivist approaches, student-centered learning and collaborative approaches have emerged, and are being supported by technological advancements such as simulations, virtual reality and multi-agents systems to name a few. This merger has created both opportunities and areas of serious concerns. This conference aims to cover both technological as well as pedagogical issues related to these developments. Main tracks have been identified. However innovative contributions that do not fit into these areas will also be considered as long as they are directly related to the overall theme of the conference.
